Hi, I'm Barb and I'm a Photoshop junkie...
I'm also thirty-something, married, have 3 cats and live in a suburb of Chicago.
And yes, I admit, being a graphic designer by trade does have its advantages - especially when you apply your talents away from your "real job" and put them to use in fandom instead. Much more fun!
By comparison to most of you out there, I haven't been involved in fandom all that long. It wasn't until X-Files debuted nine years ago that I took my first steps out into the Internet to find out more about the show.
Needless to say, I was soon sucked in and participating regularly in the fandom.
Then a few years later, The Sentinel came along. I was absolutely captivated by the show, and the characters. I became heavily involved in that fandom - writing stories, leading ad campaigns, doing zine artwork, etc. - and it remains to this day my main fandom.
I have branched out a bit, though -The Professionals, OZ, Stargate, Smallville - and I enjoy them all.
I met my fellow business partners (Bri, Tory and Denise) a few years ago and struck up an immediate friendship. We share some of the same fandoms, but we each have our own, too. Which brought a great diversity to our idea to start up Media Mugs.
And since its inception in May, 2002, it's been a great success. Bri and I (the Photoshop junkies) are the creative end, and Tory and Denise are the financial/business end. And it's been a wonderful partnership that we hope to continue for many years.
Ok, that's the end of my biography - so get out of here and go look at some of the merchandise we worked so hard to create!

Hi. I'm Bri, and I'm also a Photoshop junkie. Is this the right place for therapy?
Hmmm. Age. Well, I could give Barb 20 years and still have change LOL! I've been around a while. Strangely enough, I also have three cats and live in the suburbs of Chicago. That's about where the similarities end, however. I have fish. Barb has a husband. Mr. Barb is a whole lot more useful LOL!
In my other life, I'm a college biology teacher. My particular expertise is in genetics and evolutionary biology. So how did I end up spending most of my spare time playing Photoshop?
For the fun of it, of course ;^) Actually, I'm a frustrated artist. I can't draw, and have always wanted to. So discovering programs like Photoshop was like finding a secret toy store.
I've been a "fan" for a lot of years. My first really passionate fandom was The Professionals. I was a devoted and monogamous fan of the delicious Bodie and Doyle for many years. Then came The Sentinel. And Stargate SG-1. And now The Magnificent Seven. I still love them all, though the Pros and TS are now kind of emeritus fandoms for me.
When I got involved in on-line fandom and discovered the wonderful world of on-line fanfiction I decided that, though I wasn't a writer, I'd really like to contribute. So I made a momentous decision and created my first, very crude, computer wallpaper. That was for The Sentinel. I never show anyone that wallpaper LOL!
More than 300 wallpapers later, Barb, Tory and Denise convinced me that there were other graphics sandboxes I could play in, and here I am up to my ears in mugs.
Barb and I share the creation duties for MediaMugs. I also mind the web site, and that email address comes to my mail box, so if you contact us or send us an order, you'll probably be corresponding with me. The thing I *won't* do is handle the books LOL! Now *that* would be a disaster!
P.S. Eventually I got brave and tried the writing thing, too ;^)
